Practical Information
Appearance
They can be large and somewhat scary-looking, but they move very gracefully and have an otherworldly allure. Their thick fur is very soft and warm and comes in black, white or a wolf-like color pattern. Their eyes are their most striking feature, as they glow with an powerful, otherworldly shimmer. This is a visual reminder of how they were created as powerful spirit beings with a physiology that is representative of but does not fully correspond with that of truly material beings.
Home Realm
Their home realm Hel lies beyond the veil and is the home of the dead. Some say it is barren and empty, but the inhabited parts are pleasant. Those who pass on eat and drink well, and the Goddess Hel and her wolfdogs are there to protect them, not punish them. Some assume Helheim is a place of perpetual cold, fog and darkness because of it's proximity to Niflheim, but it is untrue. It is a safe haven with a solemn atmosphere, far from paradise but even further from an inferno.
Talents
Norse Hellhounds can put up great wards and will instinctively protect their keeper. They can travel alongside you between worlds and veils and help you discern the truth. Because of their extensive experience travelling back and forth between different realms, they can offer invaluable insights during shadow and death work.
The omnipotent Hel herself collects souls on her white steed, meaning her wolfdogs are usually not tasked to do psychopomp duties. They are created and tasked only to guard and protect all that is orderly from falling into chaos.
Like wolves and dogs of Earth, Norse Hellhounds are very sensitive to our emotions. If you feel down, they will notice immediately and attempt to turn your mood around by showing that they're there for you.

Nature
If you want a guardian who enjoys being on the watch without being told, this is a perfect match for you. Norse Hellhounds are not joking around, they know their purpose for being here and take it very seriously.
Suggested Offerings
The favorite treat of Norse hellhounds is dried meat! Blackberries are also very appreciated and is thus another edible offering we highly suggest to strenghten your bond. If stones are more your thing, ammonite and lodestone have the perfect properties to strenghten their energy and are always appreciated. Black and brown candles are also particularly in tune with their essence as strong guardians and protectors.
Expectations of the Keeper
Wolfdogs of Hel love one-on-one time. They can get bored if they never get any tasks, offerings, or opportunity to really bond with you. Before you add a Norse Hellhound to your keep, you need to make sure you have the time to lay a solid foundation for your relationship. Once a close bond is established, they are fiercely loyal.
Energy and Manifestation
Wolfdogs of Hel have a crisp and clear energy that fills the room with a reassuringly fresh feeling. Their presence is clearly noticeable, especially in contrast to heavy or dark energies.
It is not uncommon for those who have these entities in their keep to hear sympathetic howls when they feel lonely, depressed or afraid. The howl is a way for Wolfdogs to show they care and are always there for you if you need them. Another common auditory sign that a Norse Hellhound is indeed nearby is the otherwise inexplicable clicking of canine claws on the floor either directly following you or a walking a bit away. They can also visually manifest as shimmering yellow or blue spherical apparitions depending on eye color, or big "mysterious" paw prints around areas you frequent.
They communicate best through meditation and lucid dreaming. If you strive to have more lucid dreams, having a Norse Hellhound present can be beneficial as their patronage can help you sleep safer, dream deeper and wake up with more energy! If you prefer communicating via a physical anchor, the next best thing is using runes or lithomancy. If you do not have access to rune or lithomancy dinivation tools, Tarot, Lenormand & Oracle card divination is also effective. They might also direct you to look at images that convey their messages.

As Companions
Wolfdogs of Hel are accustomed to people and are drawn to humans who resonate with their complex energy. For those in need of paranormal self-defense, Norse hellhounds have a lot to offer as they react strongly to and deal effectively with destructive energies. These entities are extremely loyal and will never betray their human companion or leave them vulnerable on their watch.
With straight communication, they becomes fantastic friends. To have such a perceptive and fast protector who draws hard lines is a true blessing for any astral adventurer or perceptive individual who regularly deals with the paranormal.
If something spiritually destructive is approaching, they sense it immediately and are happy to take matters into their own hands, responding with vigorous countermeasures. They are masters of setting up strong wards/barriers that keep unwanted energies at bay. Outside of magickal work and the astral, they are just as attentive and warn their keeper if they sense a threat directed towards them or their loved ones that are part of your "pack".
Wolfodgs of Hel were created and live side by side with human souls who had previous lives on Earth. They are familiar with the afterlife, rebirth and other such concepts that cannot be fully understood without looking an insight into what is going on behind the veil. They can therefore provide great insight and emotional support as guides during shadow work that touches on fear and anxiety regarding the wandering of the soul.

As Part of your Keep
Norse Hellhounds tolerate any other entities well as long as they don't do anything that could be construed as a threat to your safety. If you have black arts entities that eminate a sense of dread or malice in your keep, you must set up clear rules to avoid misinterpretations and conflicts. Be clear about your general house rules as well to make sure your Norse Hellhound undertands your wishes and expectations and won't overstep boundaries by mistake.
If you have more canine companions, your Norse Hellhound might not want to become part of an already established pack hirearchy. If given time this might change but be prepared for a lone wolf.
